Natural Habitat
Found in damp environments, particularly in the top layer of moist soil in potted plants, greenhouses, and occasionally on damp organic matter.
Diet & Feeding
Feeds primarily on fungi, decaying organic matter, and plant roots within the soil.
Behavior Patterns
The larvae are legless and worm-like with translucent bodies and distinctive black heads. They leave a slime trail similar to snails and are most active in wet soil.
Risks & Benefits
Generally harmless to humans (no biting or stinging). However, they can be pests to houseplants; large infestations can damage delicate root systems, especially in seedlings and young plants.
