Natural Habitat

Diet & Feeding
Larvae feed on microscopic plants, animals, and decaying organic matter found in the gelatinous film layer of drains. Adults consume liquid carbohydrates like nectar.
Behavior Patterns
Poor flyers that mostly crawl or make short hopping flights. They are nocturnal and are often found resting on walls near sink drains or tubs.
Risks & Benefits
They do not bite and are not known to transmit diseases to humans. However, their presence indicates a buildup of organic slime in plumbing, and they can be a nuisance in large numbers.
