Human dwellings, particularly in seams of mattresses, bed frames, furniture, behind baseboards, and clothing seams

Obligate blood-feeders, primarily feeding on human blood, but will feed on other warm-blooded animals if necessary

Nocturnal parasites that hide in tight cracks, crevices, and fabric folds during the day. They leave dark brown to black digestive waste (fecal spots, as shown on fabric) near their harbourage sites

Risks: Infestations cause itchy, irritating bites, allergic reactions, secondary skin infections from scratching, sleep deprivation, and severe anxiety. They do not efficiently transmit bloodborne pathogens to humans. Benefits: None to human environments
