Ghost Ant

Natural Habitat

Tropical and subtropical regions, often found indoors in kitchens and bathrooms or outdoors in soil, leaf litter, and under bark.

Diet & Feeding

Omnivorous, though they prefer sugary substances (honeydew and sweets) and occasionally feed on protein-rich insects.

Behavior Patterns

They are highly mobile, forming erratic and rapid movement patterns when disturbed. They create multiple nesting sites and often move their colonies frequently to stay near food or moisture sources.

Risks & Benefits

Primarily a nuisance pest indoors due to their small size and ability to infest food. They do not sting and their bite is usually unnoticed, but they can mechanically transport bacteria in kitchen environments.
