Natural Habitat
Indoor environments, primarily cracks and crevices near human sleeping areas like mattress seams, bed frames, and baseboards.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophagous insects that feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, preferably humans.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal parasites that emerge from hiding at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and can survive for months without a blood meal.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include itchy allergic reactions to bites, sleep deprivation, and psychological distress. While they do not transmit diseases, they are significant domestic pests. There are no known ecological benefits to their presence in human dwellings.
