Common Silverfish

Damp, dark areas such as basements, attics, kitchens, and bathrooms. They prefer high humidity.

Starch and polysaccharides, including book bindings, wallpaper paste, paper, photographs, and natural fibers like silk and cotton.

Nocturnal and extremely fast-moving. They undergo hemimetabolous metamorphosis and can live for several years in favorable conditions.

Generally harmless to humans but considered a household pest due to their ability to damage paper goods, clothing, and food stores.
