Natural Habitat

Indoor environments, primarily near human sleeping areas such as mattress seams, bed frames, headboards, and cracks or crevices in furniture.

Diet & Feeding

Obligate blood feeders, primarily targeting humans, though they may feed on other warm-blooded animals if a human host is unavailable.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal and secretive; they hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and require a blood meal to molt to the next stage.

Risks & Benefits

They do not known to transmit diseases, but their bites can cause itchy red welts, allergic reactions, and significant psychological distress or insomnia. They offer no ecological benefits to human habitats.
