Size: 1 mm to 5 mm (Adults are larger, nymphs are smaller)

Natural Habitat
Indoor environments, particularly near sleeping areas such as mattresses, box springs, crevices in furniture, and behind headboards.
Diet & Feeding
Hematophagous (feeds exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans).
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal and cryptic; they hide during the day in tight cracks and crevices and emerge at night to feed. They are attracted to carbon dioxide and body heat.
Risks & Benefits
Risks: Their bites cause itchy welts, allergic reactions, anxiety, and insomnia in humans. They are notorious pests that are difficult and expensive to exterminate. Benefits: None known for humans or household ecosystems.
