Multicolored Asian Lady Beetle (Larva)

Natural Habitat

Found globally in gardens, agricultural fields, orchards, and urban areas wherever aphids are present.

Diet & Feeding

Primarily predatory; they feed heavily on aphids, scale insects, and other soft-bodied garden pests.

Behavior Patterns

The larvae are highly active hunters that undergo four growth stages (instars) before pupating. They are often described as alligator-like in shape with spiny protrusions.

Risks & Benefits

Highly beneficial as biological pest control; however, they can be a nuisance when they aggregate in homes during winter or occasionally deliver a harmless but annoying 'pinch' bite if handled.
