Pantries, warehouses, kitchens, and other indoor areas where dried food is stored.
Diet & Feeding
Larvae feed on dried food goods including grains, flour, cereal, nuts, seeds, dried fruit, chocolate, and pet food.
Behavior Patterns
Larvae crawl away from their food source to find a crevice or high point to pupate; they often leave trails of silk webbing over their food.
Risks & Benefits
They are a common household pest that causes food spoilage through contamination with webbing and frass; however, they do not bite, sting, or carry diseases.
