Natural Habitat

Moist areas such as leaf litter, under rocks, logs, and humid garden environments; occasionally found indoors in damp basements.

Diet & Feeding

Decomposing organic matter, fallen leaves, decaying wood, and sometimes young plant roots.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal; they require moisture to breathe through gill-like structures. When threatened, pill bug species can roll into a tight ball (conglobation).
