Natural Habitat

Behavior Patterns

Active during winter, these larvae (and adults) are adapted to cold temperatures. They are often seen crawling on snow to disperse or find mates. Despite their name, they do not sting.

Harmless to humans; they possess no venom and do not bite. They play a specialized role in the ecosystem as winter decomposers of moss material.
