Size: Appromixately 4 to 5 millimeters (about the size of an apple seed).

Natural Habitat
Human dwellings, primarily found in cracks and crevices in beds, furniture, and luggage.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophagous (blood-feeders), primarily feeding on human blood but will feed on other mammals or birds if necessary.
Behavior Patterns
Mainly nocturnal; they hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They are attracted to body heat and carbon dioxide. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult).
Risks & Benefits
Risks include itchy skin rashes, psychological distress, and allergic reactions; they are a major pest nuisance. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans. They provide no significant benefits to the ecosystem or humans.
