Natural Habitat
Dwellings, especially beds, mattresses, bed frames, and furniture; cracks and crevices in walls, floors, and ceilings.
Diet & Feeding
Strictly hematophagous, feeding on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded animals.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal feeders, hiding during the day and emerging at night to feed. They are attracted to carbon dioxide and body heat. Bites often appear in lines or clusters.
Risks & Benefits
Potential risks include itchy bites, allergic reactions, secondary skin infections from scratching, and psychological distress. While not known to transmit diseases, they are considered a public health pest. No known benefits to humans or ecosystems.
