Bed Bug Cast Skin (Exuvia)

Natural Habitat

Indoor environments near sleeping areas. Commonly found in mattress seams, box springs, headboards, electrical outlets, and behind baseboards.

Diet & Feeding

The insect itself feeds on blood (hematophagy), primarily human, but these skins are non-living byproducts of growth.

Behavior Patterns

Bed bugs shed their exoskeletons (molt) five times before reaching adulthood. Finding these translucent, shell-like skins is a primary indicator of an active infestation, often found clustered near hiding spots.
