Larvae feed on spider webs, wool, human hair, fur, and silk, as well as dead insects and detritus.
Behavior Patterns
The larva constructs a protective silk case flattened and open at both ends, allowing it to turn around inside or poke its head out to move and feed. They drag the case with them manually everywhere they go.
Risks & Benefits
Generally considered a minor indoor pest. They can cause small amounts of damage to natural fiber clothing, upholstery, or rugs but do not bite or transmit diseases to humans.
