Natural Habitat
Often found indoors in closets, carpets, and storage areas where animal fibers are present.
Diet & Feeding
Larvae feed on keratins such as wool, silk, fur, feathers, and lint; they do note eat synthetic fibers.
Behavior Patterns
Larvae construct and live inside a portable silken case incorporating fibers from their food source. They carry this case as they crawl and eventually pupate within it.
Risks & Benefits
Significant pest to clothing and household fabrics. They pose no direct health risk to humans but can cause expensive property damage.
