Moist, dark, and humid environments like basements, bathrooms, kitchens, and crevices.

Scavengers that feed on carbohydrates and protein, including book bindings, wallpaper paste, cereal, and dead insects.

Nocturnal and fast-moving with a fish-like swimming motion. They undergo simple metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult).

They are nuisance pests that can damage paper, fabrics, and dry goods. They do not bite or transmit diseases to humans.
