Behavior Patterns

Active year-round in warm buildings; adults are capable of flight and are most active in low light; they go through a complete metamorphosis (egg, larva, pupa, adult) with life cycles lasting 40-90 days.

Risks & Benefits

They are a common household and commercial pest that contaminates food sources; however, they do not bite, sting, or transmit diseases to humans.
