Natural Habitat
Human dwellings, specifically in cracks and crevices near sleeping areas such as mattresses, bed frames, and headboards.
Diet & Feeding
Strictly hematophagous (blood-feeding), primarily targeting humans but also feeding on other warm-blooded animals if necessary.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal and elusive; they emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and require a blood meal to molt to each successive life stage.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include itchy skin rashes, psychological distress, and potential allergic reactions to bites. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no known ecological benefits in human environments.
