Behavior Patterns
Female mites burrow into the upper layer of the skin to lay eggs. This burrowing causes an allergic reaction and intense itching. The life cycle from egg to adult takes about 10-15 days.
Risks & Benefits
Causes scabies, characterized by severe itching and a pimple-like rash. It is highly contagious through direct skin-to-skin contact. No known ecosystem benefits to humans; considered a significant public health nuisance.
