Size: Adults are approximately 4 to 5 mm (0.16 to 0.20 inches) in length, expanding and lengthening after feeding.

Natural Habitat
Found globally in human dwellings, typically hiding in mattress seams, bed frames, furniture, and wall crevices during the day.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophages (blood-feeders), primarily feeding on human blood though they may bite other mammals and birds.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal and elusive. They are attracted to carbon dioxide and body heat. They undergo hemimetabolous metamorphosis, passing through five nymphal stages, each requiring a blood meal to molt.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include itchy skin rashes, psychological distress, and allergic reactions. While they can harbor pathogens, they are not known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no known ecological benefits for humans.
