Natural Habitat

Behavior Patterns

Wingless, laterally compressed insects capable of jumping long distances. They undergo complete metamorphosis (egg, larva, pupa, adult) and spend most of their adult life on a host.

Risks & Benefits

Major pest causing allergic dermatitis and itching. They can transmit tapeworms, murine typhus, and bartonellosis (cat scratch fever). They provide no significant ecological benefits in human environments.
