Natural Habitat

Diet & Feeding

Larvae feed on natural fibers such as wool and silk, as well as spider webs, dead insects, and human hair/dander.

Behavior Patterns

The larva constructs a protective spindle-shaped silk case covered in dust and debris which it carries as it moves; it can retract into the case from either end.

Risks & Benefits

Considered a household pest as they can damage clothing and upholstery made of natural fibers; they pose no direct physical risk or health threat to humans.
