Behavior Patterns
Adults are active during the summer months and are often attracted to bright lights at night. They fly rapidly with a loud buzzing sound. Females lay eggs in rotting stumps or logs.
Risks & Benefits
They are generally considered harmless to humans as they do not bite or sting. While they feed on grapevines, they rarely cause significant economic damage to commercial vineyards and are important decomposers in their larval stage.
