Household Casebearer (Case-bearing Clothes Moth)

Natural Habitat

Typically found inside households, often on walls or floors in humid environments. They prefer dark, undisturbed areas like closets or under furniture.

Diet & Feeding

Larvae feed on natural fibers like spider webs, wool, silk, hair, and dust containing animal dander.

Behavior Patterns

The larva constructs a spindle-shaped silk case covered with debris and lint. It drags this case around for protection while feeding and eventually pupates inside it. Only the head and legs emerge from the case when moving.

Risks & Benefits

They are considered household pests as they can damage clothes, carpets, and upholstery made from natural animal fibers. They do not bite or pose a direct health risk to humans.
