Debris-carrying Lacewing Larva (Junk Bug)

Found on plants, trees, and shrubs in gardens, forests, and agricultural fields.

Predaceous; primarily eats aphids, mealybugs, scale insects, and other soft-bodied pests.

The larva uses specialized hairs on its back to attach dead insect husks, plant material, and debris to camouflage itself from predators while hunting.

Extremely beneficial to ecosystems and gardeners as they act as natural pest control. They can occasionally nip human skin if handled, causing a minor, brief irritation.
