Behavior Patterns
They are highly mobile, can crawl into tiny cracks of food packaging, and are known for their long lifespan (6 to 10 months). They do not fly. Female beetles lay eggs directly in food sources.
Risks & Benefits
Considered a significant nuisance pest that contaminates stored food with waste and larvae. They do not pose a direct health risk (like biting or disease transmission) but cause economic loss and food waste.
