Natural Habitat

Natural protein fibers including wool, silk, fur, feathers, and hair. They can also feed on wool-synthetic blends.
Behavior Patterns
Larvae are photophobic (avoid light) and often spin silk tunnels or 'webs' as they feed. They undergo a complete metamorphosis from egg to larva, pupa, and finally adult moth.
Risks & Benefits
Risks: Significant damage to clothing, carpets, upholstery, and heirloom textiles. They are considered a major domestic pest. Benefits: In nature, they help decompose animal remains like hair and feathers.
