Natural Habitat

Indoor environments, particularly in cracks and crevices near sleeping areas such as mattresses, bed frames, and headboards.

Diet & Feeding

Obligate hematophages (blood-feeders), primarily consuming human blood but will feed on other warm-blooded animals if necessary.

Behavior Patterns

Mainly nocturnal; they hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and can survive months without a meal.

Risks & Benefits

Risks include itchy bites, allergic reactions, psychological distress, and secondary skin infections from scratching. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no ecological benefits to humans.
