Natural Habitat
Typically found in bird nests or rodent burrows; they often enter human indoor spaces through vents, windows, or cracks when their primary host is gone.
Diet & Feeding
Hematophagous; they feed on the blood of birds or rodents. They may bite humans but cannot survive or reproduce on human blood alone.
Behavior Patterns
Active hunters that move rapidly. They are most active at night and tend to aggregate in warm, humid areas where hosts rest. After a host leaves a nest, they migrate in search of a new meal.
