Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal and elusive; they hide during the day and are attracted to the carbon dioxide and warmth emitted by sleeping hosts. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis with five nymphal stages.
Risks & Benefits
While they are not known to transmit diseases, their bites can cause allergic reactions, skin rashes, and significant psychological distress or insomnia. They are difficult and expensive to eradicate.
