Siphonaptera (larva stage)

- Order: Siphonaptera, Family: Pulicidae (common cat/dog flea)
- Size
- 2mm to 5mm in length
Natural Habitat
Inhabits dark, protected areas such as carpets, upholstery, pet bedding, and floor cracks where humidity is high.
Diet & Feeding
Scavengers that feed on organic debris, skin scales, and most importantly, 'flea dirt' (dried blood excreted by adult fleas).
Behavior Patterns
Legless and worm-like, they are photophobic (avoid light) and tactilely sensitive, burrowing deep into fibers or carpet to stay hidden while developing through three larval instars.
Risks & Benefits
While larvae do not bite humans, their presence indicates a flea infestation. If they reach adulthood, they become parasites that cause irritation, allergic dermatitis, and can transmit diseases like tapeworms or plague.
