Household Casebearer

Natural Habitat

Commonly found inside homes, particularly on walls, ceilings, and in humid areas like bathrooms or closets.

Diet & Feeding

Larvae feed on spider webs, wool, human hair, organic debris, and sometimes natural fibers like silk.

Behavior Patterns

The larva builds a flattened, spindle-shaped case from silk and debris that it drags along as it moves. It can protrude its head from either end to feed or move. After several molts, it attaches the case to a surface to pupate.

Risks & Benefits

They are considered a minor household pest. While they don't bite humans or pets, they can occasionally damage silk or wool fabrics and their presence indicates the availability of dust, webs, or high humidity.
