Obligate hematophages, primarily feeding on human blood, though they may bite other warm-blooded animals if humans are unavailable.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal parasites that emerge at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and can survive for months without a blood meal.

Risks & Benefits

Significant household pest causing itchy bites, allergic reactions, and psychological distress. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans but cause ecosystem disruption in indoor environments.
