Natural Habitat
Indoor environments, primarily in cracks and crevices of beds, upholstered furniture, and walls near sleeping areas.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophages, meaning they feed exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals, primarily humans. Feeding occurs mostly at night.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal and elusive. They undergo hemimetabolous metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult). They track hosts via CO2 and body heat, then return to dark hiding spots to digest.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include itchy skin welts, allergic reactions, secondary skin infections from scratching, and psychological stress. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no known ecological benefits.
