The larva constructs a protective spindle-shaped case from silk and environmental debris (sand, lint, soil). It can move and feed without leaving the case; it is often seen dragging the case along walls.

No health risk to humans or pets. However, they are a household pest that can damage natural fiber clothing, rugs, and upholstery.
