Plaster Bagworm

Natural Habitat

Commonly found indoors on walls, especially in humid climates, as well as in garages, closets, and underneath furniture. They prefer sticking to stucco, concrete, or fabric surfaces.

Diet & Feeding

Detritivores that feed on old spider webs, wool, hair, dead insects, lint, and other natural fibers found in dust.

Behavior Patterns

The larva constructs a distinctive flat, pumpkin-seed or watermelon-seed shaped protective case open at both ends, which it carries around while feeding. It eventually pupates inside this case.

Risks & Benefits

Generally considered a nuisance pest rather than a major threat. They do not bite or sting humans but can damage wool, silk, and other natural fabrics if an infestation goes unchecked.
