Size: 4 to 5 mm in length (about the size of an apple seed)

Natural Habitat
Inhabits human dwellings, specifically in cracks and crevices such as mattress seams, bed frames, and furniture near sleeping areas.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophages, feeding primarily on human blood, but will feed on other warm-blooded animals if necessary.
Behavior Patterns
Mainly nocturnal; they emerge at night to feed on hosts while they sleep. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and can survive months without a blood meal.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include itchy skin rashes, psychological distress, and allergic reactions to bites. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans. Benefits are nonexistent in human environments.
