Natural Habitat

Typically found on the underside of plant leaves, stems, and new growth in gardens, farms, and indoor houseplants.

Diet & Feeding

Herbivorous; they pierce plant tissues with needle-like mouthparts to suck out nutrient-rich phloem sap.

Behavior Patterns

Often found in dense colonies. They can reproduce asexually (parthenogenesis) and some species give birth to live young, allowing for rapid population growth. They secrete a sticky substance called honeydew.

Risks & Benefits

Major agricultural pests that can cause leaf curling, stunted growth, and transmit plant viruses. High ecological value as a primary food source for beneficial insects like ladybugs and lacewings.
