Natural Habitat

Found on the undersides of leaves of specific host plants, including trees like sycamore, oak, and various shrubs like azaleas.

Diet & Feeding

Herbivorous; they use piercing-sucking mouthparts to feed on plant sap from the underside of leaves.

Behavior Patterns

They are slow-moving and often complete their entire life cycle on a single host plant. They leave behind characteristic dark fecal spots on the underside of leaves.

Risks & Benefits

They are considered garden pests as heavy infestations cause 'stippling' (yellow spots) on leaves and can weaken plants. They pose no risk to humans or pets as they do not bite or sting.
