Size: 4 to 5 mm (adults), roughly the size of an apple seed.

Natural Habitat
Human dwellings, primarily found in cracks and crevices, bed frames, mattresses, and upholstered furniture.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophages; they feed exclusively on animal blood, primarily from humans, but will feed on other mammals or birds if necessary.
Behavior Patterns
Mainly nocturnal and elusive. They are attracted to heat and carbon dioxide and typically feed while the host sleeps. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis with five nymphal stages, requiring a blood meal to molt at each stage.
Risks & Benefits
They do not transmit diseases but their bites can cause itchy red welts, allergic reactions, and secondary skin infections from scratching. Infestations often lead to significant psychological stress, anxiety, and sleep deprivation.
