Common Bed Bug

Size: 4 to 5 mm in length (unfed adults); up to 7 mm after feeding.

Natural Habitat
Primarily indoors within human dwellings, hiding in mattress seams, bed frames, cracks, and crevices near sleeping areas.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate blood-feeders, primarily consuming human blood but may feed on other warm-blooded animals if necessary.
Behavior Patterns
Mainly nocturnal, emerging at night to feed on hosts while they sleep. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph, adult) and can survive for months without a meal.
Risks & Benefits
While not known to transmit diseases, they cause itchy welts, allergic reactions, anxiety, and insomnia. They offer no beneficial ecosystem services in domestic settings.
