Merchant Grain Beetle

Commonly found in pantries or warehouses where cereals, dried fruits, and oilseeds are stored.

Scavenges on processed grain products, seeds, nuts, dried fruits, and pet food; they do not eat whole grains.

They are active crawlers and flyers that can squeeze into very small gaps in food packaging. They have a short lifecycle that allows for rapid population growth in warm conditions.

They are a common household pest that can contaminate large quantities of stored food with waste and shed skins, though they pose no direct physical threat to humans.
