Varied Carpet Beetle (Larva)

Indoors in homes, museums, and warehouses; often found in carpets, upholstery, and stored clothing.

Scavengers that feed on natural animal fibers like wool, silk, feathers, fur, and hair, as well as dried food products.

Larvae prefer dark, undisturbed areas and can remain in the larval stage for several months to years; they are known for their slow movement and defensive hairs.

Does not bite humans but can cause property damage to fabrics; some people experience an allergic reaction (dermatitis) to the airborne larval hairs.
