Larvae prefer dark, undisturbed areas and can remain in the larval stage for several months to years; they are known for their slow movement and defensive hairs.

Risks & Benefits

Does not bite humans but can cause property damage to fabrics; some people experience an allergic reaction (dermatitis) to the airborne larval hairs.
