Behavior Patterns
Larvae prefer dark, undisturbed areas. They undergo a long larval stage (several months to years) and are known for their slow movement and ability to damage household goods while remaining hidden.
Risks & Benefits
Significant risk as a domestic pest, causing damage to clothing, blankets, and rugs. Their bristly hairs can cause 'carpet beetle dermatitis' (skin irritation or allergic reactions) in some people. No significant benefits in a domestic context.
