Size: Adults are approximately 4-5 mm (about 3/16 of an inch) long, similar in size to an apple seed.

Natural Habitat
Typically found in human dwellings, particularly in and around sleeping areas such as mattresses, box springs, bed frames, and headboards. They hide in cracks, crevices, and seams.
Diet & Feeding
Hematophagous (blood-feeding); they feed almost exclusively on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded animals.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal and parasitic; they emerge at night to feed on sleeping hosts. They are known for their ability to hitchhike in luggage, clothing, and used furniture, facilitating rapid spread.
Risks & Benefits
Risks include itchy bites, allergic reactions, secondary skin infections from scratching, and significant anxiety or insomnia. While they are not known to transmit diseases directly, infestations are difficult and costly to eradicate.
