Natural Habitat

Parasitic blood-feeders; they primarily feed on the blood of birds but will bite humans if a host is unavailable.
Behavior Patterns
They are active at night and hide in cracks during the day. They leave nests when the birds fledge or the nest is abandoned.
Risks & Benefits
They can cause severe itching, skin irritation, and dermatitis in humans; they do not transmit major diseases to humans but are major pests in poultry farming.
