Household Casebearer (Larva)

Natural Habitat

Commonly found inside homes on walls, under furniture, or near baseboards; thrives in humid, warm environments.

Diet & Feeding

Feeds on organic fibers, woolen fabrics, hair, cobwebs, and dead insect remains.

Behavior Patterns

The larva constructs a protective spindle-shaped case from silk, dust, and sand, which it carries while moving. It can protrude its head from either end to feed or move. After the larval stage, it pupates within the case before emerging as a small, inconspicuous moth.

Risks & Benefits

No medical risk to humans; however, they are considered minor household pests because they can cause damage to natural fiber clothing, rugs, and upholstery.
