Bed Bug (nymph)
Scientific Name: Cimex lectularius
Order & Family: Hemiptera, Cimicidae
Size: 1-5 mm (nymphs are smaller, starting around 1 mm)

Natural Habitat
Primarily human dwellings, especially bedrooms, living in cracks and crevices of mattresses, bed frames, furniture, and walls.
Diet & Feeding
Strictly hematophagous, feeding on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded animals.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal feeders, hiding during the day and emerging at night to feed. They are attracted to carbon dioxide and body heat. Nymphs go through five instars, molting after each blood meal before reaching adulthood.
Risks & Benefits
Potential risks include itchy bites, skin irritation, secondary infections from scratching, and psychological distress. Bed bugs are not known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no known benefits.
